I'm working with an US client concerning French VAT rules and French invoicing rules. I need to explain how to regularize invoices by sending "credit notes" (facture d'avoir). Do you have a better translation for "facture d'avoir" ? And what about "acompte" (I found "payment on account" ??)

"Credit note" is quite good for "facture d'avoir".

"Payment on account" is also good for "acompte". You also have "instalment" which has the same meaning.

For "accompte" you can say "advance payment"

Note de crédit ? This is a litteral translation which does not seem very good to me. Indeed, I do not think that the terms "note de crédit" has the same meaning as "note avoir or facture d'avoir" in French, though the "credit note" is really a "note d'avoir / facture d'avoir" in French.
